In late 2022, South Australia experienced its largest flood since 1956.

Thousands of residents were impacted by the flood, with more than 4,000 hectares of farmland and 3,500 properties affected.

Green Industries SA is the South Australian Government’s lead agency on disaster waste and has led the clean-up program following the flood.

Nearly 2,000 properties registered for free assistance from the clean-up program. Assistance measures included street waste clearances, disposal vouchers, sandbag removal, structural assessments, and, where necessary, hazard reduction and demolition.

Watch the below video to learn about the impact of the flood and the processes involved in cleaning up waste in affected communities, to enable them to recover and rebuild.
