Tackling waste with Sturt Football Club

Thanks to funding and support from Green Industries SA's Business Support ProgramSturt Football Club (SFC) has reduced its game day waste by 96%.

The grant funding allowed SFC to engage with the team at Waste Reduction SA (WRSA), who attended games and evaluated the types of waste generated, weighing the different waste streams at the end of each game day.

Based on the findings from this process, WRSA recommended a 4-bin system for the club, which was implemented around the oval, in change rooms and in the administration office.

The club, which is also one of SA's, Plastic Free Precincts, is leading the way for other footy clubs in SA by improving waste diversion and rolling out all new bin systems and signage at their home games and facilities to separate recyclables and compostables at the oval.
